Parte 1 di 1
A function f: A → B maps each element x in domain A to a unique element y in codomain B. The natural domain consists of all real numbers for which the formula produces a well-defined real number.
Two restrictions dominate CEnT-S problems: denominators cannot be zero, and radicands under even roots must be non-negative (g(x) ≥ 0). For composite function f(g(x)), evaluate g(x) first and substitute the output into f.
Natural Domain
Set of all valid real inputs x
Restricted by denominators and roots
Square Root Domain
√(g(x)) requires g(x) ≥ 0
Example: √(2x - 8) requires x ≥ 4
Fractional Domain
1 / g(x) requires g(x) ≠ 0
Excludes roots of denominator
Composition
(f o g)(x) = f(g(x))
Inner function evaluated first
Esempio svolto
1.The natural domain of f(x) = √(2x - 8) is x ≥ 4.
2.The composite function (f o g)(x) is always identical to (g o f)(x).
