1. Finding Rotation Rules
A common TestAS matrix pattern uses rotation. The figure itself does not change, but its direction changes between cells. Always test 90 degree, 180 degree, and 270 degree rotations before searching for complicated explanations.
Students often overcomplicate these questions because they focus on details like shading before checking the simplest movement rule. Look at one unique feature first, such as a diagonal line or a marked corner.
Worked example
A triangle points upward in the first cell. The second cell shows the same triangle pointing right. The third cell should show the triangle pointing downward because each step rotates 90 degrees clockwise.
