La cinematica descrive il moto dei corpi senza considerare le cause che lo generano. Nel moto rettilineo uniforme (MRU), la velocità v è costante ed il valore della posizione è s = s0 + v * t.
Nel moto rettilineo uniformemente accelerato (MRUA), l'accelerazione a è costante. Le equazioni fondamentali sono v = v0 + a * t e s = s0 + v0 * t + 1/2 * a * t^2. Ricorda la formula utile priva di tempo: v^2 - v0^2 = 2 * a * s.
Worked example
Un'automobile frena con accelerazione costante di -5 m/s^2 partendo da una velocità iniziale v0 = 20 m/s. Il tempo impiegato per fermarsi (v = 0) è t = (0 - 20) / -5 = 4 secondi.
1.Nel moto rettilineo uniformemente accelerato la velocità varia in modo direttamente proporzionale al tempo.
2.Un corpo lanciato verticalmente verso l'alto possiede accelerazione nulla nel punto di massima altezza.
3.Convertendo 72 km/h nel Sistema Internazionale si ottiene una velocità pari a 20 m/s.
