Fluid pressure increases with depth because more fluid is above the point being measured. Stevin's law states that pressure change equals density multiplied by gravity and depth: ΔP=ρgh.
Medical examples include blood pressure differences between parts of the body.
Worked example
Water density is 1000 kg/m³. At 2 m depth with g≈10 m/s², pressure increase is 1000×10×2=20000 Pa.
