Parte 1 di 1

Learn the method

An assumption is not explicitly stated but is needed by the reasoning. For a necessary-assumption question, negate the candidate and ask whether the argument can still work. The needed bridge can concern comparability, a causal connection, a practical alternative or a criterion of value. A sufficient assumption may be much stronger than the argument actually requires.

Esempio svolto

1“Switching to digital tickets will lower total costs because printing will stop.” The argument requires that new digital-system costs will not outweigh the avoided printing costs.
2It does not require that digital tickets cost nothing or that every passenger owns a smartphone if another access route is possible.
